When the Pirate Council catches wind of Backbeard and his crew's stylish new look, they threaten to kick him out if he doesn't start wearing proper pirate attire. Unwilling to give up his new birthday suit, Backbeard chooses to leave his swashbuckling pirate life behind and search for new employment. But who will hire a dirty, smelly ex-pirate?

About the Author

Matthew McElligott is the author of several books for children, including The Lion's Share, Absolutely Not, and Backbeard and the Birthday Suit. He teaches at Sage College and also visits elementary schools around the country. He lives in New York.
