Synopsis

Vincent and the Night by Adele Enersen

In the tradition of Harold and the Purple Crayon, an inventive and charming bedtime story that blends whimsical art and sweet photographic touches. Vincent is a very clever boy. So when the night rolls in like a warm blanket, he unravels it and begins to play. The threads of the night become a violin, an elephant, and even a pirate ship anything to delay bedtime. But in the end, even Vincent can t resist resting his eyes and snuggling up in the dark. Good night, Vincent! Whether delighting in bedtime or are afraid of the dark, every child will enjoy this playful and reassuring picture book that entices even the most rambunctious little dreamers to sleep.

Reviews

The text will immediately elicit empathy from young readers Most pairs of pages feature one photograph of the baby coupled with whimsical black-inked art. The results are funny and delightful, from Vincent being very naughty as he pulls the tail of a Sandra Boynton-esque cat to Vincent creating a frog pond to an encounter with an elephant composed of pleasing ink swirls...Offbeat enough to add to an already-groaning collection of bedtime books. Kirkus A surreal and adorable tribute to sleep fighters everywhere. School Library Journal The inventive technique and imaginative scenes that made Enersen's Mila's Daydreamsblog and previous picture books popular will have fans clamoring for Vincent's debut. Booklist [A] charmer . . . One can't help but liken Vincent and the Nightto the classic Harold and the Purple Crayon. Both will color the lives of children 3 to 5 years of age. Missourian.com
