Synopsis

My Friend Maya Loves to Dance by Cheryl Willis Hudson

Maya is a young girl who loves to dance. In this rhyming picture book, she attends a lively dancing class with her friend. They practice their steps and follow the command of their teacher, who says in French, 'Plie, mes amis'. Maya loves everything about the dance: The costumes, grand entrances, pirouettes, music, the final bow and the magic of recitals. She even loves the hard work. But most of all, she loves the way it brings the community together for art and enjoyment.
