Synopsis

Bawk & Roll by Tammie Sauer

This title is suitable for children aged 4 to 7 years old. C'mon over, there's a whole lot of clucking going on in this hilarious follow-up to the popular Chicken Dance . Marge and Lola have hit the big time! The dancing duo is ready to rock 'n' roll their way across the country, touring with the great Elvis Poultry. But when the lights go down and the curtain goes up, stage fright sets in. Will our two beloved chickens be too chicken to perform? Or will they find their courage and totally bawk, shake and flap?

Reviews

Sauer dispenses her many puns with an appealingly deft touch, offering a genuine lesson on friendship. Santat's illustrations are similarly droll, featuring several clever and surprising page designs, making the most of the opportunity offered by the contrast between stage and audience. This flock rocks. -- Kirkus Reviews

Santat is clearly having a blast with the material: his spreads are packed with jokes and asides, his Elvis impersonation is spot-on, and Marge and Lola are a comedic vision in their Vegas showgirl-style costumes.... [a]punny, rocking romp. -- Publishers Weekly
