Synopsis

Viva Teacher's Guide 1 by Sylvia Moodie

This new Teacher's Guide contains comprehensive lessons to be used with VIVA! Students' Book 1. It also has general advice on teaching grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The highly-successful VIVA! series has recently been revised to strengthen students' foundation skills at lower secondary in preparation for the new CXC examination. The course's original 'communicative' approach - of learning by listening, speaking, reading and writing - remains unchanged. The first three books examine the everyday lives of two families, one Caribbean and one Latin American, to provide a lively teaching framework of varied activities and situations. Twelve lessons, each on a particular theme, are divided into three sections containing approximately one week's work. Level 4 matches the demands of the CXC syllabus fully and is tailor-made to meet the needs of students as they prepare for their exam. Features of the Viva! course include: * emphasis on comprehension, Spanish in real-life situations, guided writing and oral practice * stimulating activities relevant to today's world * full-colour Student's Books with a fresh, contemporary design * brand new stimulus texts to capture students' imaginations * end-of-term tests to provide teachers with ready assessment material Other key components of the course are the VIVA! Practice Books, now revised and extended, and VIVA! CD's, which provide recordings of the dialogues, poems and songs in the Student's Book.
