Synopsis

Germany by Sonja Schanz, G. Donaldson

Freestyle Express is a new, fully accessible range of books tailored for 11-15 year old pupils with a reading age of 8 years. The range uses a simplified version off the Freestyle layout, making it easier for the less confident reader to follow. This is a country studies series with a difference! It examines the characteristics of places and the people that live there in an unfolding sequence of enquiry and discovery. This core curriculum area is explained in an attention-grabbing way, encouraging even the most reluctant reader to pick up the books and find out more about the country they are researching. It uses a survival guide approach that encourages pupils to turn the page to find out more. It includes feature boxes with unusual or amusing facts about each country in addition to the key geographical information required. It contains fascinating images, a range of text types, maps and graphs. It can be used in the classroom in conjunction with the equivalent Freestyle series.
