Hens lay beautiful eggs, sunbathe when it's warm, play in the dust and roost in the henhouse - and they dance too! It supports KS1-2 Science and Literacy. It is written in consultation with the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education. It offers non-fiction for developing readers. It features texts and illustrations which support children learning to read. It contains extra information section at the back of the book with index, author and illustrator biography.

About the Author

Karen Wallace is an author who writes books for young children and teenagers. Her natural history book for children, Think of an Eel, has won awards on both sides of the Atlantic and her first novel, Raspberries on the Yangtze, was shortlisted for the Guardian Fiction Prize. Other titles include Imagine you are a Tiger, Climbing a Monkey Puzzle Tree and The Crunchbone Chronicles. Anita Jeram studied art at Manchester Polytechnic and now lives in Northern Ireland. Anita is best known for her illustrations for the picture book Guess How Much I Love You, which was shortlisted for the 1994 Kurt Maschler Award, and is now one of the world's best-selling picture books.
