When Crocs Fly A Pearls Before Swine Collection by Stephan Pastis

From Stephan Pastis, the New York Times best-selling author of Timmy Failure, comes the always hilarious cast of Pearls Before Swine in this fourth special collection for kids. Sure, crocs can fly ...just not in the way you might expect. This spectacular feat usually involves an impenetrable wall, zip lines, gravity, and an appetizing zebra on the other side. In this collection of cartoons specially chosen for kids, the gang from Pearls Before Swine gets into adventures you have to see to believe. Join Rat and Pig-the brains and the pawn-as they attempt the first 3D comic; see what happens when the luckless crocs adopt two Oreos (penguins); and roll your eyes with Goat as tries desperately to keep his sanity in the midst of these antics. Warning: Flying (Falling) Crocs Ahead!

About the Author

Stephan Pastis

Stephan Pastis is the creator of Pearls Before Swine, an acclaimed comic strip that appears in more than six hundred newspapers and boasts a devoted following. His 2011 compilation Larry in Wonderland debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list for paperback graphic novels. Timmy Failure was his first novel for young readers. He lives in northern California.

Where did the idea for Timmy Failure originate?
I wanted to create a character with a big blind spot. And Timmy’s is enormous. He is not
good at anything he does, and yet he thinks he’s the centre of the universe. I like working with characters like that. I think I made him a detective because in kids’ books, the boy detective is always so smart and clever. I wanted to turn that on its head.

Who is your favourite supporting character in the book?
Corrina Corrina. I like the fact that she’s the protagonist’s enemy but that she doesn’t even know that the protagonist is alive. Timmy’s just not a part of her everyday life. On the other hand, he is completely consumed with her.

What’s next for Timmy and Total?
Timmy will continue to try to conquer the universe. And he will fall short. And he will
blame it all on his polar bear.

“Timmy is a detective who cantake any mystery and make it more mysterious.”
