Synopsis

The Giant of Jum by Elli Woollard

Fee! he said, and Fi! he said, and Fo! he said and Fum! Look out children, the Giant of Jum is grumpy and hungry and he's off in search of a tasty snack. And the tastiest of all is a boy known as Jack! But Jack and his friends don't see a scary giant, they see a magically tall man - a man who can fetch lost balls and rescue cats from trees! Perhaps this hungry giant is softer than he seems...An incredible rhyming text and a brilliant, big-hearted twist on a classic fairy tale, this book sees the launch of a major new picture book pairing: the uniquely talented author and poet, Elli Woollard, and award-winning illustrator, Benji Davies. Also contains an important message for all: don't eat kids, eat cake!

About the Author

Elli Woollard

Elli Woollard started writing stories after an embarrassing incident in which her youngest son broke Michael Rosen's glasses. Having previousl written poetry, Elli's snappy rhymes, catchy, rhythms and witty stories have captured the imagination of the children's book world; from picture book collaborations with wonderfully talented illustrators such as Benji Davies (The Giant of Jum and The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight), Steven Lenton (The Great Gran Plan, 2017), to a first chapter book with the marvellous Laura Ellen Anderson (Swashbuckle Lil: The Secret Pirate). In everything she does, Elli Woollard brings a unique new voice to children's fiction, and is definitely an author to watch. She lives in London with her four children, her husband and two guinea pigs.
