Matisse for Kids by Margaret E. Hyde

Matisse for Kids by Margaret E. Hyde

Henri Matisse (1869-1954) is considered the most important French painter of the twentieth century. A master of the use of colour, Matisse founded the Fauvist school of painting, whose members were known for using bold and iconoclastic hues. During his long and productive career, Matisse experimented in several other mediums, most notably collage and stained glass. Matisse for Kids contains eight images from his diverse works, including The Harmony in Red and Goldfish , in a toddler-friendly board-book format.

As an alternative to having her expensive coffee-table books drooled on, she designed these durable board books to introduce young children to the great painters
