The Island of Horses by Ellis Dillon

Synopsis

The Island of Horses by Ellis Dillon

Reviews

This story paints a vivid picture of life on the wild and isolated island of Inishrone. There are powerful descriptions of the Connemara coast and of nature in all her moods. The author gives intensely physical descriptions from the raging seas and treacherous reefs to silver sands and gold tipped clouds. There are some memorable characters too, particularly Luke the Cats with his host of feline friends, tough and hard with face and hands 'the colour of a smoked herring.
