About the Author

Meredith Costain rocked through the 1980s playing piano and synth in blues and cover bands in grungy inner-city Melbourne pubs. Though music is still a vital part of her life, she has been a prose writer since the 1990s. As well as writing her own books, Meredith has reviewed kids' books, edited a kids' magazine and taught in a professional writing course. Illustrator Craig Smith has illustrated over 300 books in a 30-year career. He was once a rust scraper on the Sydney Harbour Bridge but is now one of Australia's most popular illustrators with a style that is energetic, individual, carefully observed and full of life and humour. His witty, humorous artwork is enormously popular with children combining a wonderful sense of the absurd with a fine eye for detail.
