About the Author

Alison Lester's books are favourites with children and adults around the world. Magic Beach, Imagine, My Farm and Are we there yet? are now Australian classics. In her picture books Alison mixes imaginary worlds with everyday life, and through her stories she encourages children to believe in themselves and celebrate the differences that make them special. Alison is involved in many community art projects and spends part of every year travelling to remote indigenous communities. She has also been on trips to Antarctica to run the Kids Antarctic Art Project. In 2012, Alison Lester became Australia's first Children's Book Laureate, a position shared with Boori Monty Pryor.
