Fierce Animals by Alice Hemming

Fierce Animals is a book-banded reading book for developing readers, carefully levelled at Orange Book Band. Illustrated throughout with beautiful photographs, this 325-word non-fiction book features a longer, less structured text with a more extended vocabulary. It is suitable for ages 6 - 7. Fierce Animals is part of Ransom Reading Stars, a structured programme for children learning to read. The series has fifteen levels: four phonics levels and eleven book band levels (Pink through to Lime).

About the Author

Alice Hemming

Alice Thorp, who writes under her maiden name of Hemming, is a mother-of-two from Hertford. Her first picture book, The Black and White Club was published in September 2013.

Alice was awarded with the Margaret Carey scholarship in 2011. She has a background in website editing and Outreach work in schools. She moved to Hertford five years ago, when her daughter was tiny. She now has two children at the local primary school and is delighted to see her first book in print and says, “After years of writing for children it is exciting to see one of my stories brought to life as a book.”
