Nat the Cat's Sunny Smile by Jez Alborough

Nat the Cat's Sunny Smile by Jez Alborough

Nat the Cat jumps out of bed with a smile spread halfway round her head. She's packed a delicious picnic to share with her friends, Billy Goat and Hugo Hare. But Billy and Hugo are both feeling down. They are just not in a picnicky mood. Nat carries on alone, but she soon finds that her smile is gone. Luckily, she's passed on her smile to her friends and they soon come along to cheer her right back up again! Another gorgeous rhyming treat from the glorious Jez Alborough.

The bold colourful illustrations are immediately engaging and this story can be put to good discussion use for the way in which it illustrates moods and feelings. The School Librarian The book is written in rhyme, which always goes down well with the Madhouse Mini-testers, and is great fun to read out loud at bedtime. Each page has a huge, brightly coloured picture that really enhances the text. The characters are all really appealing and the story really caught Pierre's imagination... I've just noticed on the back of the book that two further stories will be coming soon featuring Billy and Hugo - Billy the Goat's Big Breakfast and Hugo the Hare's Rainy Day - so I'll definitely have to look out for those to complete the collection. About the Author

Jez Alborough

Jez Alborough was born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey in 1959. As a young boy he was always very creative but it was not until a guest bought him a box of crisp white paper, some pencils and a rubber that he expressed his creativity in drawing. As Jez says "It was an act of support and encouragement which I have never forgotten. The identity of this guest remains to this day a mystery. I like to think he was my guardian angel."

Jez is very much in demand for storytelling events for children, as well as speaking about his work to librarians and teachers.

He lives in London with his wife and enjoys playing the guitar and walking along the river.
