Synopsis

The Shepherd's Song Psalm 23 for Children by Jan Godfrey

This is a beautiful retelling of Psalm 23 in a way that is easy to read and accessible for children. It is told from the perspective of David the shepherd and with stunning, colourful illustrations which back up the story in an appealing way. It includes the full text of Psalm 23 taken from the Contemporary English Version. It is suitable for children aged 5-7, and parents, grandparents, and godparents. It is also ideal as a Sunday school prize or gift to School libraries. Combining the well-known story-telling skills of Jan Godfrey and the illustrations of bestselling Honor Ayres, this is the words of Psalm 23 interpreted for young children. Told from the perspective of David the shepherd and with stunning, colourful illustrations, this book helps children understand the well-known Psalm better and poses the question: 'Would you like God to be your good Shepherd?'

Reviews

Reviewed by The Good Bookstall - July 2010 Goes alongside The Secret of Happiness. How nice that someone has the initiative to take some text from the bible and re work it for children. This book is a nicely re-written Psalm 23 made accessible for little ones. It really does make a change from nativities and Daniel in his den! The book is a hard back and is carefully and thoughtfully illustrated in warm colours. It would make a nice gift.
