Circus Skills Set One by Steve Rickard, Anita Loughrey

Circus Skills Set One by Steve Rickard, Anita Loughrey

Learn about life in the circus, past and present, and why circus skills are more popular than ever. Find out which skills people are learning today. Check out the dangerous acts, like fire-eating, sword-swallowing and tightrope tricks. Read how one person was even crazy enough to cook breakfast, on a high-wire above the Niagara Falls. Then read the short story You're a Natural, and find out how Sam finally achieves her circus dream. Circus Skills is part of the Starstruck series, published by Ransom Publishing, a specialist publisher for reluctant readers and struggling readers. This series is designed for children interested in the performing arts. Each book is highly illustrated with both photos and colour illustrations. The text is carefully written to make it easier for reluctant and struggling readers. The first half of the book is non-fiction, followed by a fiction story on the same topic. Circus Skills is ideal for reluctant readers aged 8 to 14 with a reading age of 6 - 7 years.

Circus Skills was interesting and now I can juggle! The plot was good and it wasn't like any other book I had read, and it had a funny ending. It was interesting and you learnt things as well as the story. Ewen Munro, Drummond Community High This book is minted - it's good because it encourages you not to give up but to keep practicing and trying to do the skills. It shows you stuff that you can do, and then what to do next. Precious James-Miene, Castlebrae Community High
