We Children of Wales by Ann Saer

This work offers a glimpse at the lives of 25 children. Twenty five children in different parts of Wales share their lives with readers, enabling us to take a glimpse at their world. One's life is moulded before one reaches eight years of age - that's one fact that underlines how important childhood is in the making of our personalities. Family background, geographical location, education, interests and cultural differences - each plays an influential role in the making of an individual. The characters in this book are certainly amusing and interesting. Each portrayal is based on the child's own words, so revelations are often surprising: fears, hopes, likes and dislikes are not always what an adult would expect. Lisa - Lisa's mother is from just up the road in the village, but her father is from Brisbane, Australia. Robert - Though Robert is blind, this does not stop him from enjoying most of the same activities as his friends. He especially likes playing football with them. Sian - Sian likes spying on the birds, being with her cat, cooking, reading, singing and collecting things.
