Synopsis

Songbird Story by Michael Rosen

Two songbirds soar among the leaves and branches, filling the woods with their singing. Then along comes the birdcatcher with his traps...How the birds are separated, reunited and finally find their freedom is charmingly told by Michael Rosen, the Children's Laureate.

Reviews

A Michael Rosen story of birds, a catcher's trap and ultimate freedom has invitingly detailed paintings by Jill Dow. School Librarian The Children's Laureate, Michael Rosen, has produced a charming ballad-like tale that is ideal for reading aloud... The themes of freedom and captivity are explored at a simple level and will generate discussion as will Jill Dow's sensitive, beautifully realised illustrations, with their intricate detail and almost manuscript-style borders covering every page Carousel
