Synopsis

Our Animals by Oxfam, Oxfam

People all around the world keep animals for company as pets, for food (milk and meat) and clothing (wool and hair), and for carrying loads. Pigs, donkeys, goats and sheep are just some of the many types of animals that help us. This book, perfect to share with a young child, has large clear photographs of different children and their animals from all around the world. It includes a map of the world indicating the countries the photographs come from. Published in association with Oxfam this series aims to draw parallels between children from many different cultures.

Reviews

Filled with wonderful evocative photographs of children from a variety of cultures living their day to day lives. A prefect introduction to the study of geography for the young. Back to School Bookseller Stunning phtography from Morocco, Guatemala, Tajikistan and many more countries really brings this book to life Green Parent One of the most effective ways to encourage children to embrace their differences is to encourage an interest in and empathy towards, each other and this book certainly does that. As with the previous book, full-colour photographs make for visually stimulating sharing and the locations chosen are varied and fascinating. Readers will want to search the map at the back to locate the children they have been reading about and thus have an effective introduction to world geography. Armadillo Magazine Nursery teams would find the photographs in these books an attractive and helpful resource for early geography projects like people and places. Books for Keeps Should certainly be attractive to the young children for whom the book is intended. Ibby Link
