The Wim Wom from the Mustard Mill by Polly PetersAll the family are sure that the mischievous Wim Wom will cause trouble for the children if they don't do as they're told, but no one seems clear about what it really looks like. Join the children as they draw, make and model a Wim Wom, using clues from their parents and grandparents. Just as the children decide that the Wim Wom is not actually real, events take a surprising turn. And the children realize you can't always believe everything you are told!
and even dough. The illustrations add to the story, as the Wim Wom's shadow appears and disappears on the pages as you read along. There is a great twist at the end that will grab parents who think the myth is debunked. Pros: Kids and parents alike will enjoy this folktale with a twist. Cons: None. Children who are very literal may find it difficult to see that the stories the parents and grandparents told the children were not lies.
