Emily's Tiger by Miriam Latimer

Emily's Tiger by Miriam Latimer

Whenever Emily doesn't get her way, she growls and roars like a tiger. She roars when her mother tries to cut her hair, she roars when she doesn't get picked to be the clown's assistant at a birthday party - what are her mum and dad going to do with their tiger-daughter? Then Grandma comes to stay - and she knows a thing or two about tigers. This work shows children how to manage their own feelings of frustration and anger as they see how Emily develops her personal and social skills. It has multigenerational appeal. It considers the perspectives of Emily, her parents and her grandmother.

Parents and grandparents as well as teachers will revel in reading this story aloud. The story goes at a cracking pace and the vibrant, zestful illustrations match the text perfectly and add to the fun. Everyone gets upset at some point and has to learn how to cope. This book will encourage children to talk through their own difficult moments and discuss ways in which to turn the situation around' - The School Librarian

About the Author

Miriam Latimer studied illustration at the University of the West of England, gaining a first class honours degree in 2003. She says of her work: I spend a lot of time daydreaming, thinking of ideas - that's the easy bit. It's then calming the ideas down and putting them in a readable format that is the hard part.A This is Miriam's fourth project with Barefoot Books, following The Prince's Bedtime (HB 978-1-84148-549-2: PB 978-18486-105-5) Shrinking Sam (978-1-84686-038-6) and Shopping with Dad (978-1-84686-171-0).
