About the Author

James Harpur studied Classics and English Literature at Trinity College, Cambridge. He is a published poet and has written and edited a number of popular books for adults and for children on history, warfare, religion and mythology. They include The Atlas of Sacred Places (Henry Holt/Cassell 1994), Eyewitness Visual Dictionary of Ancient Civilizations (Dorling Kindersley 1994), Revelations: the Medieval World (Henry Holt/Cassell 1995) and Warriors (Carlton 2007). www.harpur.org
