Reviews

This is the second collection of stories about Betsi Wyn, her family and friends, following on from the award-winning Welsh Cakes and Custard. The five stories all stand alone, though they share the same characters two children and their grandparents. Betsi and Emyr visit a Victorian school, go to a rugby match, dress up for a party and head off to the seaside. The stories, though written in English, contain a smattering of Welsh, which is translated for non-Welsh speakers. The whole book is set in a recognisable Wales Cardiff and Tenby are visited making it a book which clearly delights in its setting. The simple black and white pictures add to the books charm, and each story is an ideal length for parents to read at bedtime, or for 89 year olds to read to themselves. Well worth a look! It is THE website to use for narrowing down your search for any book. Definitely knocks the socks off any other book review website.
