Synopsis

How to be a Happy Hippo by Jonathan Shipton

Horace isn't a happy hippo. He has plenty of toys and lots to do, but what he wants most in the world is a good long wallow in the mud with his big, round dad. The trouble is that Mr Hippo always has somewhere to go and someone to meet. How can Horace make him stop and play?

Reviews

Although Horace Hippo has everything a small hippo could possibly need, there is something missing from his life. He craves his father's attention, but Mr Hippo always has somewhere to go or someone to meet. He resorts to drastic measures to literally trap his father into playing with him. A wry observation of this important relationship. (Kirkus UK)
