Wild About London's Parks Explore London's Parks with This Series of Fun and Fascinating Walks and Guides for Children by Simon Rees

'Wild About London's Parks' is a series of fun and fascinating guided walks for children and families to explore London's green spaces. This book turns a walk in the park into a fun adventure of wildlife discovery. Walks are designed specifically for children to lead their family on the walk; for the child to become the guide. There are clear, child-friendly maps and step-by-step directions. The emphasis is on discovering the wildlife in the parks. Questions throughout each walk encourage the children (and the rest of the family) to discover the birds, animals and plants in the park. The book contains a set of Wildlife Identification Guides that are used on the walk, in order to answer the questions and to help identify other animals and plants. There are Wildlife Identification Guides to:trees, wildflowers, birds, butterflies, mini-beast (bugs and creepy-crawlies), ponds and streams and freshwater fish. Besides this, interesting historical facts and puzzles are also included. In total, the book consists of six different walks set in the following parks and areas of London: Hampstead Heath, Regent's Park, Hyde Park, Kew Gardens, Richmond Park and along the Thames at Ham As well as the six walks there are also shorter reviews of other interesting wild places to discover in London e.g. Coram's fields, The Wetlands Centre, Battersea Park etc.

Wild about London's Parks, 11 Aug 2008 By F. Waberski (Leicestershire) - Amazon Reader Review

A wonderful guidebook designed to engage children in the natural world of London. Fantastic illustrations and clearly laid out maps give a wide variety of places to explore and will give families and groups of friends with children a great excuse for going outside and having some adventures. The identification guides are clear and useful and cover all sorts of wildlife from bugs and birds to flowers. Excellent value at only GBP4.99

A superb book, the kid loved it, we spent a fun week completing all the different parts of the book. I would definately recommend it to anyone visiting the London parks.
