Synopsis

Warfare in the Ancient World by Mark Bergin

Warfare in the Ancient World explores methods of fighting amongst the powerful ancient civilisations including Egypt, Rome and Greece, examining the motivations behind expansion and empire. The text takes a look at the period, including decisive issues such as weaponry, armies, chariots, forts and frontiers, showing how these developed to meet the specific needs of attackers and the civilisations who had to defend against them. An exciting mixture of fascinating illustrations, photographs of period artefacts and historical reconstructions bring the age to life. This title includes informative captions, maps, a complete glossary and an index.
