Synopsis

53 1/2 Things That Changed the World by Steve Parker

Imagine life without music, buildings, clothes, books, engines or even speech! This is what the world would be like, without the 53 1/2 things that changed the course of history. From primitive discoveries such as fire and the wheel, to modern creations such as the jet engine and the internet - not forgetting the great inventing disasters - this book contains them all! A collection of funny and informative stories describe how technological progress has been advanced throughout human history by some of the greatest inventing catastrophies ever. It's all explained with detailed but informal introductions and captions, accompanied by simple, colourful and comical illustrations which will engage even the most reluctant readers. A complete glossary and index make this title ideal for home and school.
