The pupils of Umfraville School are super-bright, super privileged but pretty well cut-off from the outside world, stuck on a windy Welsh island with no internet connection. Who can blame them then for spicing up their life by devising a game that channels Lord of the Flies via Wink Murder! Harmless fun? Not so for the participants though certainly so for readers. Cate is delighted to be selected to play, but the pressure to identify the killer is on when people start to get properly hurt. There are three main suspects, and each of them has a romantic connection to Cate… Dark, full of black humour, and with a twist no-one will see coming, this does for boarding school stories what Hot Fuzz did for The Bill. ~ Andrea Reece

A Piece of Passion from Barry Cunningham, Publisher Here’s the thing – I’m a chicken. No, really! I’m a real scaredy pants when it comes to those murder in the dark games. So I would be the worst person ever to get caught up in the seriously scary game in Kirsty McKay’s frankly funny but increasingly terrifying boarding-school-on-a-remote-island caper! I couldn’t guess who the Killer was – and I bet you can’t either!
