Miriam and Friends by

Miriam and Friends by

Miriam is an excitable but warm, loving, ordinary child, living with her grandmother. She loves raising rabbits and she begins to think about becoming a vet. Next door lives Charlie. One day his football goes into Miriam's grandmother's garden. He goes around to collect it and a friendship is born. Two other friends, Baxter and Trudy, share their adventures, hopes and aspirations as they grow into young adults.

About the Author

The author lives in Kent. She grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Miriam and Friends is her first children's novel. She writes with hope - hoping that children will read this book, enjoy their own imaginings and like the written word. She believes reading informs and helps a child to be a good conversationalist. 'On top of the list,' she says, 'a book is a friend.' The story of Miriam and Friends is simple and old fashioned, depicting ordinary people living ordinary lives back in the 1970s and '80s. Most children have gone to the seaside, visited a museum, had pets and, most of all, had friends with whom they had fun.
