About the Author

Shirley Reva Vernick s novel The Blood Lie was named to the Best Fiction for Young Adults list from the American Library Association. It also received the Simon Wiesenthal Once Upon a World Children s Award and the Sydney Taylor Honor Book Award. Her book Remember Dippy received the Dolly Gray Children s Literature Award from the Council for Exceptional Children. The Black Butterfly, her most recent novel, is a Junior Library Guild selection. Shirley, formerly from Boston, lives with her husband, two daughters, and a frisky dog in western Massachusetts.
