Synopsis

Little Gurus A Yoga Book for Children by Angelika Taschen

The world of Yoga for small and bigger children. An avid Yoga practitioner for over a decade, Angelika Taschen has teamed with internationally acclaimed illustrator Olaf Hajek to create a beautiful new Yoga primer for children. More than just a practical workbook, Hajek's charming illustrations seek to cultivate an early interest in the historical and cultural background and peaceful philosophical ideas of this ancient discipline. Basic Yoga poses are depicted in fantastical settings that will delight and encourage the imaginations of little Yogis and Yoginis. Children and animals practice sun salutations on the banks of the holy Ganges amongst temples, cows and monks, or stand in warrior poses, while monkeys, snakes and tigers grin at them through the trees of the jungle. Snake charmers, sadhus, and fakirs twisted into pretzel positions also inhabit this enchanted world and are depicted in vivid color against scenes filled with butterflies, overgrown exotic flowers, intricate trees, OM syllables or other Sanskrit words. The illustrations show the asanas in full detail, but are rendered in a lively and simple manner that is still accessible to young children. Little Gurus makes Yoga simple and fun for children and for parents who are still young at heart.
