Winnie the Witch is currently a series of 12 picture books , written by Valerie Thomas and illustrated by Korky Paul. According to Oxford University Press more than five million books have been sold of this series.

Following on from the success of the picture books, a series of 'young fiction' Winnie the Witch books were written by Laura Owen, also illustrated by Korky Paul.

Valerie Thomas worked for many years in education, teaching in schools in Australia and the UK. Korky Paul is an award-winning illustrator of children’s books. In 1986, he illustrated his first book for Oxford University Press, Winnie the Witch, which won the Children’s Book Award in 1988. Laura Own has chosen to keep her profile as low as possible so there's nothing more we can tell you - but her read aloud titles are perfect for those children just beginning to make the move from picture books to reading aloud or reading alone.
