Quentin Blake, who was October 2010’s Illustrator and Author of the Month, is a giant of children’s Literature. Even if you haven’t heard his name, you will certainly have seen his drawings (and so will your kids), because Quentin Blake is just about as big as it gets. He was described by the Guardian as a “national institution” and in 1999 became the first ever Children’s Laureate.

Quentin Blake also famously teamed up with Roald Dahl to create some of the most iconic illustrations for the best loved stories in the world. More recently, he’s collaborated with the comedian and author, David Walliams. But did you know that he has written and illustrated so much more, including some absolutely stunning picture books to delight both parents and children alike.

That’s why we are so delighted to focus our attention this month on the books that he has both written and illustrated, as well as on some classic titles that Quentin has illustrated and produced with his longtime collaborator, author John Yeoman. As Melanie McDonagh at the Telegraph wrote: “I’ve never met a child who didn’t love Quentin Blake”. We hope you will enjoy exploring them with your kids.

Quentin Blake has won numerous book awards including the Whitbread Award, the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration, he’s been shortlisted for The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award which rewards the best in contemporary children's and young adult literature from all over the world and he has also won the most prestigious children’s book award, the Kate Greenaway Medal.
