The 3rd Degree: Series 10: The BBC Radio 4 Comedy Quiz Show

The 3rd Degree: Series 10: The BBC Radio 4 Comedy Quiz Show

Author: David Tyler, Steve Punt Narrator: Steve Punt Release Date: 01/06/2021

A quiz show hosted by Steve Punt where a team of three University students take on a team of three of their professors. The show is recorded on location at a different University each week, and it pits three Undergraduates against three of their Professors in a genuinely original and fresh take on an academic quiz The rounds vary between Specialist Subjects and General Knowledge, quickfire bell-and-buzzer rounds and the 'Highbrow & Lowbrow' round cunningly devised to test not only the students' knowledge of current affairs, history, languages and science, but also their Professors' awareness of television, sport, and quite possibly Justin Bieber... In addition, the Head-to-Head rounds, in which students take on their Professors in their own subjects, offer plenty of scope for mild embarrassment on both sides... In this series, the universities are Bournemouth, Imperial College London, Reading, Durham, Ulster, and Mansfield College Oxford. In the first episode, we're at Bournemouth University. The specialist subjects are Psychology, Nursing, and Economics, and the questions range from sarcophagi to super overs with a bit of triangular arbitrage thrown in... Show 2 comes from Imperial College London; the specialist subjects are Material Sciences, Biochemistry and Maths and the questions range from carbon nanotubes to cocktail ingredients via Mah Jongg and rucksacks. The third show is at the University of Reading, where the specialist subjects are Linguistics, Law and Film & Theatre Studies and the questions range from dental fricatives to Jack Reacher via a burst water pipe in Birmingham... The fourth show in the series comes from Durham University. The specialist subjects are Classics, Education and Modern British History and the questions take us from Rwanda to Finland to South Korea to Sainsburys. Show 5 comes from Ulster University; the specialist subjects are Engineering, Sport, Physical Activity & Health and Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Studies and the questions range from chuck keys to trampolines via CAT scans and cannabinol... And the final show comes from Mansfield College, Oxford. The specialist subjects are English, Physics and Theology and the questions range from petrol pumps to Philistines via Tristram Shandy and Burt's Bees. When Jeremy Hardy Spoke to the Nation

When Jeremy Hardy Spoke to the Nation

Author: David Tyler Narrator: Jeremy Hardy, Sandi Toksvig Release Date: 01/02/2020

Not quite a biography, not quite a documentary, When Jeremy Hardy Spoke to the Nation celebrates Jeremy Hardy’s Radio 4 life, with material from his very first appearances in stand-up shows in the mid-1980s, via his own early sitcom At Home With The Hardys, and right through to his glorious appearances on The News Quiz and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue – as well as the very best of the ten series of his own ground-breaking Jeremy Hardy Speaks To the Nation and his final solo series Jeremy Hardy Feels It. Narrated by his great friend and colleague Sandi Toksvig, the programme also features never before broadcast behind-the-scenes material and shines a light on how and why the man once described as “an incendiary vicar” stayed so funny and so beloved for over thirty years. There’ll also be some singing. The show is produced by his longest-term collaborator, David Tyler for Pozzitive, who has all the tapes. Narrator: Sandi Toksvig Produced & directed by David Tyler A Pozzitive production for BBC Radio 4

Author: David Tyler, Milton Jones Narrator: , Alexander Armstrong, Dave Lamb, Milton Jones, Olivia Colman Release Date: 01/04/2018

Milton Jones, Milton Jones - so good, they named him. The most popular living comedian on Radio 4 and officially Britain's funniest Milton is here with the complete three series of his award-wining show that leapt from late night to prime time - a show which co-stars regular guests Alexander Armstrong ('Pointless', 'Armstrong & Miller'), Dave Lamb (the voice of 'Come Dine With Me') and Joanna Scanlan ('The Thick Of It', 'Getting On')No-one knows where he's from - 'As a child, I always remember my father saying to me 'Son, to pay for your education your mother and I had to make a lot of sacrifices.' Because they were both druids.' No-one can predict what he gets up to -'I'm not getting on with my yoga teacher at the moment ... which frequently puts me in a very difficult position.' And no-one can tell what made him the way he is -'You see when the boys in the playground found out that I had a potentially fatal allergy to peanuts they used to shove me up against a wall and make me play Russian roulette with a bag of Revels.' Each week, Milton Jones faces his own death. His life flashes before his eyes. We hear everything that's happened to him, and anything that might have happened to him. His hopes, his dreams, his fears. We invite you to enter the Sony Award-winning 'The Very World Of Milton Jones'.
