Meurig Bowen studied music at King's College, Cambridge, where he was a choral scholar. His wide ranging professional experience has included spells in management for performers such as The Hilliard Ensemble and the Australian Chamber Orchestra as well as major roles at festivals including Lichfield and Aldeburgh. Since 2007 Meurig has been the Director of Cheltenham Music Festival. Throughout his career Meurig has written extensively about music and musicians for publications and other media such as The Guardian and BBC Radio 3. After a decade-long stint working for Nimbus Records in South Wales, Rachel Bowen is now established as an admired director of youth and community choirs in Gloucestershire. Alongside class and singing teaching at Dean Close School in Cheltenham, she conducts eight choirs on a regular basis, including three separate groupings at Cheltenham Youth Choirs and an adult choir Mid-Life Choir-Sis. They have performed a wide range of repertoire in venues such as Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and, to a crowd of 25,000 at an Olympic Torch Ceremony event in 2012, Cheltenham Racecourse.
