In a nutshell: patterns and personalities in the animal world captured in words and beautiful pictures.
This beautiful book will inspire children to look at the world around them with new eyes. Anna Wright is fascinated by the extraordinary patterns and detail in nature, but also by animal behaviour and character. She explores both enthusiasms in her illustrations, bringing groups of animals vividly to life, in beautiful pen and ink and watercolour illustrations, their bodies playfully created with fabric collages. Brief passages of text impart information likely to catch children’s imagination, for example that geese hold each other in great affection, caring for wounded friends; or that the strange stiff-legged jumping springboks do when disturbed is called ‘pronking’. The animals gaze out clear-eyed from the pages, catching and holding readers’ attention. ~ Andrea Reece
Anna Wright's stunning introduction to non-fiction and the natural world is enlivened by her gorgeously sophisticated and fun art style which mixes pen and ink, watercolour and fabric collage.
Find out what 'pronking' is and how one jellyfish can become two in the humourous descriptions. Both educational and beautiful Anna's unique picture book shows the character of these animals beyond their familiar forms.
