Favourite bedtime reading in wizarding households for centuries.
This is a special large print edition of J.K. Rowling's gloriously inventive The Tales of Beedle the Bard, an essential classic for all Harry Potter fans. Full of magic and trickery, these classic tales both entertain and instruct, and remain as captivating to young wizards today as they were when Beedle first put quill to parchment in the fifteenth century.
A world of magical adventure awaits! Visit Bloomsbury's Harry Potter website for magical downloads, games, videos, and more Harry Potter fun!
There are five tales in all: `The Tale of the Three Brothers' Harry Potter fans will know from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; `The Fountain of Fair Fortune', `The Warlock's Hairy Heart', `The Wizard and the Hopping Pot' and `Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump' complete the collection.
These narrative gems are accompanied by explanatory notes by Professor Albus Dumbledore (included by kind permission of the Hogwarts Headmaster's archive). His illuminating thoughts reveal the stories to be much more than just simple moral tales, and are sure to make Babbitty Rabbitty and the slug-belching Hopping Pot as familiar to Muggles as Snow White and Cinderella.
This large print, dyslexia-friendly edition of these much loved fairytales pairs J.K. Rowling's original text with gorgeous jacket art by Jonny Duddle and line illustrations throughout by Tomislav Tomic. Features to aid accessibility include RNIB-approved and dyslexia-friendly fonts and font sizes, tinted paper for glare reduction and maximum contrast, captions and detailed descriptions to accompany each illustration and themed navigational aids to assist the reader.
A contribution from the sale of each book will go to Lumos, an international children's charity founded in 2005 by J.K. Rowling.
We're delighted to have worked with Bloomsbury in reviewing the large print editions of the three Hogwarts Library books. We hope that these projects will encourage other publishers to follow in their footsteps and expand the market of accessible and inclusive books - RNIB
UKAAF is delighted that Bloomsbury has made such a great effort to make this book as accessible as possible to people with print impairments. Our aim is to improve both the availability and the quality of accessible formats in the UK, and this publication is another great step in that direction - UKAAF
Children with dyslexia should also be able to develop a passion for stories and reading, so I very much welcome this dyslexia-friendly version - Margaret Malpas, MBE, Vice President of the British Dyslexia Association
I am delighted to endorse this edition that has been specially adapted to enable those requiring larger print or those who may be dyslexic to enjoy and access fully the wonderful world of Harry Potter - Professor Amanda Kirby, University of South Wales, Medical Advisor to the Dyspraxia Foundation in the UK
A moralist, a magician and a great liberal, Beedle is to the wizarding world what Hans Christian Andersen is to Muggles (non-magical people). Refreshingly original ... and surprisingly satisfying. The Tales of Beedle the Bard contains all the playful humour and down-to-earth detail that makes her wizarding world so seductive - Sunday Times
Five enchanting tales told with the author's confident mixture of wit and wariness tell lessons for both children and parents alike - Sunday Express
The stories are simple, original, diverse, witty and wise ... a storytelling treat - Books for Keeps
