There aren’t many books that can have you laughing out loud one minute, and tearing up the next, but The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates is one.  When Freddie sets off on a secret journey that will take him half-way across the country, his two best friends come too; they have their own reasons for wanting to escape home for a bit.  Together the three get into and out of some extraordinary scrapes, inadvertently becoming heroes in the process, and Freddie experiences an actual miracle.  Freddie, Ben and Charlie are great characters and their incredible journey – which variously involves sheep, a tandem, superhero outfits and stolen treasure - both hilarious and gripping. The ending proves that the world is a wonderful place, particularly for those who go looking for adventure. Don’t miss.

One to recommend to fans of Frank Cottrell Boyce’s The Astounding Broccoli Boy, or David Solomons’ My Brother is a Superhero series.

I don't think we've ever laughed so much whilst reading a book. We were sad when the story came to an end. Jenny Pearson's writing is fresh and so hilarious. We can't wait to read the other books she is writing.

It's the start of the summer holidays and unlike his best friends Charlie who is going to a vegan health camp, and Ben who is going away with his wicked step-mother, Freddie will be having a rather boring holiday stuck at home with his Dad and Grandma. However, he arrives home to be told his 'Grams' died and this is where it all goes downhill, for a while at least.

To say we loved this book is the understatement of the century. Amatullah whizzed through the book desperate to know what happens to Freddie and his friends. She laughed (snorted) so loud while she was reading to herself, she had us all intrigued.

This book deals with grief through humour but still manages to pull at your heartstrings. Rob Biddulph's illustrations catch the hilarity of the situations perfectly.... Read Full Review

I haven't laughed so much whilst reading a book for a very long time! Grab yourself a comfy seat and a suitable snack (onions optional)because once you've started, you won't want to stop reading!

After reading a letter from his Grams, Freddie decides to spend his holiday on a search for his biological Dad. He persuades his friends Billy and Charlie to come along for the ride and the three of them embark on the most unpredictable, disaster packed, hilarious and heartwarming journey!
The chapters are short and the pacing is spot-on, and our main trio are likeable and realistically written, even if their adventures are a little OTT! The facts that Freddie likes to collect and which appear throughout the book are fun and always relevant to the storyline.... Read Full Review

I have really enjoyed reading this book. In some places it is so funny it has made me laugh out loud. Freddy Yates is a brilliant character, but my favourite is Sheila.
