Sarah - Age 9

This final Cogheart adventure takes place in and around a booming New York. The children and Malkin come across a mystery whilst in the hotel on their first night and, as always, takes you on a journey to find out the truth.

Secret messages start to come, adults are tricked to avoid getting caught... it's all tense!

The twists are unpredictable and new characters enter the story from all angles - it all adds to the scary but exciting adventure to save the poor boy. Or maybe he isn't all that innocent?

I really liked the settings of old fashioned New York with all the famous places they visit. Although scary in places, especially zombies and trapped situations, I couldn't put this book down!

I think both boys and girls 10+ will enjoy this book, especially if you have already met the characters in Cogheart.

Elissa Watkin - Age 7

Shadowsea is an excellent children's book. It was a bit too old for my 7-year-old but she enjoyed me reading it to her.

The characters Malkin, Lily and Robert are involved in an exciting adventure that starts at their hotel and leads to underwater action.

Kids will love this and I enjoyed reading it to my daughter.

The book is well illustrated and has a nice feel to it.

Rodborough Reader - Age 12

Shadowsea is an amazing book. You pick it up and it is like you are transported into a magical world where anything can happen. The mystery of the book provides suspense and attention making the reader empathise with every turn of the page. The captivating description of the underwater world lights a candle in the reader's mind, painting a picture. This incredible novel grips your mind and the constant tension provides an entertaining storyline that captures the reader's attention. The perilous adventures make you wish you had a life like Robert's and Lilys. This adventurous story inspired the reader to step out of their comfort zone and become like the heroes in the book.

Gianna Smith - Age 10

New York is totally different to England, Lily and her friends definitely think so when they go to New York on holiday. Lilly, Robert and Malkin, who is a mechanical fox built by Lily dad discover dark secrets. With a strange boy held captive, a deadly machine and more. Searching for clues they are pulled down deep into the sea. Can they find the truth before it’s too late?

This book has some intriguing elements, a mechanical fox that comes alive when the key is turned and a sea of secrets. The underwater base is full of bodies. Will they stop the devious plan?

You will cry and laugh over this book. Lily and her friends are on a treacherous mission of trust and friendship. Sometimes you just need to remember your past. Friends become enemies. It’s hard to trust anybody. Will they succeed? They only have till 12 midnight or is it midday?

I think ages nine and over will enjoy this thrilling book. It’s a wonderful book to follow up the rest of the Coghart adventures.
