Synopsis

Find Out About the Body by Steve Parker

This title offers a lively and accessible introduction to the human body, how it works and how you use it: learn about eyes and sight, the brain, why you need food and how your muscles make you move. It includes 17 simple projects to help you find out for yourself: measure your body, stamp your fingerprints, train your memory, and check your pulse. It features over 250 images that include explanatory diagrams and step-by-step photographs. It is ideal for home or school use for 8- to 12-year-olds. The human body is one of the most amazing things in the world. You breathe without thinking in order to keep your body supplied with life-giving oxygen. You blink your eyelids to keep your eyes protected with moisture. Your rumbling stomach tells you when it is time to eat. This exciting fact and project book explains how your body does all of these things, and more. Find Out About... is a series for young readers who want to explore the wonderful world of science. Information sections describe the different parts of the body, while 17 easy-to-do projects and experiments will help you learn all about yourself, such as how to test the sensitivity of your skin and how to listen to your heart beating. The book is illustrated throughout with more than 250 photographs, drawings and diagrams, including cross sections, to show you how your body works.
