If You See a Kitten by John Butler

Synopsis

If You See a Kitten by John Butler

This is a beautiful book and guessing game in one. Lots of cuddly animals like a kitten and dormouse sit alongside the less adorable slugs and spiders. Try and guess the most appropriate reaction - if you see a kitten, say 'Aaah' and if you see a spider, say 'Eeek!'. It is a highly interactive book for young toddlers.

Reviews

This is a cheerful book for toddlers who will enjoy joining in and gradually anticipating the responses. The ginger kitten of the front cover introduces the format: 'If you see a cuddly kitten.... Say ahhh!'. There follows a sequence of creatures with appropriate reader responses ('Ouch!?', 'Yukk!

. The book is beautifully produced and builds suspense as each page is turned. John Butler has used full-page illustrations and a suitably repetitive text to introduce animals both familiar and hair-raisingly new. The book builds to a climax with the shout for 'Help!

'crotchety crocodile'. It's great fun and parents will be lucky to get away with one reading. Fortunately this picture book is robust as well as attractive. Ages 2-4 (Kirkus UK)'
