Synopsis

Place in the Wood, A - David Nash by Carolyn Davies, Lynne Bebb

An inspiring artbook for children which serves as an introduction to the work of the sculptor David Nash. David Nash's sculptures travel the world, but this internationally acclaimed artist has chosen to live and work in Wales. Some of the artworks closest to his heart grow in his woodlands at Cae'n y Coed, planted, nurtured and tended throughout David's long career. -- Welsh Books Council

Reviews

David Nash is an internationally-renowned sculptor in wood. From hisbase, Capel Rhiw in Blaenau Ffestiniog, he explores the area nearbyfor fallen trees to turn into magical pieces of art. Using mechanicaltools of all sorts, as well as massive chainsaws, he works with thewood, seeing each piece's innate needs and values. In thisbeautifully produced book, children will be introduced not only to theartist, but to his work and to the countryside that inspires him. Thewarmth of wood and the originality of Nash's shapes are shown clearlyin a large number of excellent photographs, and the text comes closeto being lyrical in its descriptive power. An excellent introductionto a distinguished Welsh artist.Elizabeth SchlentherIt is possible to use this review for promotional purposes, but the following acknowledgment should be included: A review from www.gwales.com, with the permission of the Welsh Books Council.Gellir defnyddio'r adolygiad hwn at bwrpas hybu, ond gofynnir i chi gynnwys y gydnabyddiaeth ganlynol: Adolygiad oddi ar www.gwales.com, trwy ganiatd Cyngor Llyfrau Cymru. -- Welsh Books Council
