The Best Book in the World by Rilla Alexander

If you found the best book in the world, would you stop reading? Could you stop reading? If you had homework to do, or dinner to get through, could you put the book down? On a train to the zoo or on a flight to Kalamazoo, would that break the spell? If in a forest you walked, while scary monsters stalked . . . would that be enough? If you'd crossed a desert that baked or were swept off by a river that snaked, would you even take a break? If every animal in the land were to be led by a big band, in a grand parade in your honor made . . . would you put the book down? What could possibly be so good about a book? Well, open me up and find out for yourself!Rilla Alexander's story is conveyed through her superb artwork making this an unforgettable and magical tale that encourages children to read. The Best Book in the World draws young readers into the richly rewarding world of books.Rilla Alexander is an Australian-born, Berlin-based designer and illustrator who has worked on picture books and produced work for global commercial brands. The Best Book in the World is her first picture book with Flying Eye Books.

-The pictures quickly and cleverly move from depicting relatively realistic reading nooks to the places readers go in their imaginations... excitement reigns, right up to the gently mind-bending metafictive moment that concludes the book.- -Kirkus Reviews -Rilla has crafted a story about the power of books to take us places, but in her text it's as if she has written an incantation to breathe the words alive.- - Matthew Winner for the Busy Librarian -A chic encouragement to read . . . With each page, the illustrations become wilder and more thrilling.- - The Wall Street Journal -Creative visuals use saturated colors and graphic shapes to cleverly show a reader making her way through the story. She walks with her nose in her book, following wherever it leads--through the streets, to the bus stop, wnd then far away into her imagination. Each high-contrast spread offers plenty of details and discoveries to explore.- - School Library Journal

It has introduced my children to books we hadn’t come across before. Real children’s reviews gives a great insight into what others think to
