The Lovereading4Kids comment

This new publishing imprint is leading the renaissance in non-fiction for children. Stylish illustrations combined with clever design and an innovative approach to subjects make for very desirable, appealing books. One Thousand Things is a visual encyclopedia for very young children. Divided into seven sections, including First Things to Learn, Things Around the World and Things Inside Your House, clearly labelled objects are grouped together and a question on each spread keeps young learners engaged. They’re challenged to find a little mouse on each page too. It finishes with a bravura drawing of – yes – one thousand things (including the mouse). ~ Andrea Reece

Synopsis

One Thousand Things by Anna Kovecses

Find out what one thousand really looks like in this visual encyclopedia of first words to see and say. Search-and-find Little Mouse on every page and discover new words with every turn of the page. Stylishly laid out, the book is arranged by theme and features fully illustrated collections of things , each clearly labelled and easy to recognise.

This value-packed 80 page book covers everything from space, to the human body, to the world around us, bringing contemporary appeal to a classic subject.

Reviews

A visual encyclopedia of things to spot and say with a difference, the pictures are strong, bold and dominate the page, the labels are clear and defined but it is not just about the learning, it comes with a game too, a little mouse to spot on every page! Compulsive and instructional fun, minimal and modern.

... the book is huggable, sniffable and strokable. The bright, digitally created images are easy on the eye, with kid and parent appeal and an air of comforting naivity. The clear font is helpful for early readers.

Study hard and this book will see you safely through nursery and in to reception as an assured four year old who can hold their own in the cut and thrust of classroom debate.
