The Lovereading4Kids comment

This beautiful hardback in its sturdy slipcase brings together all of Jill Barlem's Brambly Hedge stories to celebrate their 35th anniversary. There has always been a classic, timeless feel to the Brambly Hedge stories and this lovely edition shows them to their best advantage. The stories of the mice who live in Brambly Hedge are simple and appealing enough for the very youngest, and Jill Barklem’s illustrations are for everyone. Her mice are always busy, neatly turned out in their skirts, bonnets and waistcoats, working hard filling their larders, or having fun at picnics and parties. The illustrations are exquisite, hedgerows and cosy homes alike are full of incredible and loving detail, and this is a delight for readers of all ages. ~ Andrea Reece

About the Author

Jill Barklem was born in Epping and led a quiet childhood enjoying being close to nature. On leaving school, she studied illustration at St Martin's in London. The inspiration for Brambly Hedge appeared during Jill's daily train journey between Epping and London: shutting herself off from the outside world, she became obsessed with the way of life of a band of hedgerow mice, later to be developed as the world of Brambly Hedge. Jill still lives in Epping, Essex.
