This reworked version of the Hans Christian Andersen classic is a great way to talk with children about bullying and other important subjects too, such as why you shouldn’t judge people on appearances, and why you shouldn’t change who you are because of what other people say. With his strange sticky up feathers, Tufty looks very different to the other ducklings and is teased not just by the other animals, but his brothers and sisters too. Fortunately he has one good friend who sticks up for him, and he gets the chance to prove how special he is. The story is fun to read and the illustrations very appealing, while useful end notes contain suggestions for parents or adults on ways to talk about the book and its message. ~ Andrea Reece
