The Lovereading4Kids comment

A familiar family situation is explored in this gentle picture book which offers lots of opportunity for discussion particularly about sharing and generosity. Archie feels left out when his big brother comes home from a party with a party bag so Mummy suggests they go out together and fill a special bag with treasures just for Archie. All is going well until a magpie spots the glittering marble Archie has found and steals the bag. Help comes from an unexpected quarter. Children will enjoy the story and helpful examples of questions parents or adults can ask young readers are included at the end of the book. ~ Andrea Reece

Synopsis

Archie's Bag of Treasures by Lucy Barnard

Archie is jealous because his big brother Oliver has returned from a party with a party bag full of goodies, including a wonderful silver windmill. When Mum suggests that Archie gather his own bag of treasures, he sets about collecting enthusiastically; first a shiny conker, then a red leaf, some juicy blackberries, some teasels and, best of all, a beautiful glass marble. But then a magpie spies the glittering marble and steals Archie's bag. Who will help Archie! Who'd have thought it's his brother who comes up trumps.

This lovely story about sharing and caring is perfect for jealous siblings, and is a fine addition to the Storytime series.
