Olivia is a favourite children’s character with sales in the millions and now after a longish break she’s back in a brand new adventure. In it the normally irrepressible Olivia is a bit down; after a series of mishaps that could happen to anyone (blueberry smoothie up the kitchen wall, a machine load of shirts dyed pink), she overhears her mother discussing what should be done with her. People who eavesdrop never hear good – in her own words Olivia picks up only ‘partial truths and misinformation’ and is left feeling ‘insecure and suspicious’! All works out well of course but it makes for a wonderful and very droll story. Olivia is one in a million, a character to charm readers of all ages and Ian Falconer has produced another tour de force. ~ Andrea Reece

But when Olivia overhears her mother complaining about her recent naughty behaviour, her imagination runs wild and she decides to find out everything being said about her ...until her eavesdropping leads her to believe she is being carted off to prison!

Ian Falconer

Ian Falconer is the author and illustrator of the Olivia book series, including Olivia, Olivia Helps with Christmas, Olivia and the Fairy Princesses, Olivia and the Missing Toy, Olivia Saves the Circus, to name a few. Falconer’s illustrations have graced numerous covers of The New Yorker. He has also designed sets and costumes for the New York City Ballet, the San Francisco Opera, the Royal Opera House, and many others. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
