Olivia is a favourite children’s character with sales in the millions and now after a longish break she’s back in a brand new adventure. In it the normally irrepressible Olivia is a bit down; after a series of mishaps that could happen to anyone (blueberry smoothie up the kitchen wall, a machine load of shirts dyed pink), she overhears her mother discussing what should be done with her. People who eavesdrop never hear good – in her own words Olivia picks up only ‘partial truths and misinformation’ and is left feeling ‘insecure and suspicious’! All works out well of course but it makes for a wonderful and very droll story. Olivia is one in a million, a character to charm readers of all ages and Ian Falconer has produced another tour de force. ~ Andrea Reece

Her days are filled with all the wonderful little things that make up a child's life and, at the end of them when she snuggles up in bed and her mother reads her a story (or three!), Olivia feels very full of love. Olivia is an absolute gem of a book - a modern classic.
